  Regarding the issue of Ukraine joining NATO, Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov says it will risk “large-scale conflict” in Europe. During an interview on Friday, Lavrov said the West is pulling Ukraine into NATO, with possible strike missile systems appearing near their borders and this creates “unacceptable security threats” to the Kremlin. The Russian foreign minister blamed NATO for triggering instability in Eastern Europe where Russian troops are deployed along Ukraine’s borders. He insisted Russia’s military posture is “defensive” in nature.
