The targeted killing of one man has already started a worldwide conflict once before and, with chaos in the Middle East affecting many nations, there is a chance hostility could spill over into all-out war once again.

  General Soleimani was killed at an airport in Baghdad when he and Iran-backed militia figures were hit by a US drone strike. US President Donald Trump tweeted a picture of the US flag after the killing of the general, while the Pentagon claimed in a statement that Soleimani “was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region”.
