He claims a recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has been altered to be more alarmist, with scientists playing to the crowd. He says a modest carbon tax would be enough to deal with the problem and most other climate policies should be abolished, but politicians favour other policies which allow them to help out friends and allies. He thinks that some of the claims made by the report, such as that climate change would leave people trapped in poverty, have no supporting evidence, and scientists are trying to create headlines. He points out that scaring people has not worked as a method to create change, and that the report focuses far too much on risk rather than on opportunity.
