Hong Kong: Woman Attacked by Anti-Govt. Protesters as Violence Continues
- Ruptly
Anti-government protests in Hong Kong took an ugly turn on Sunday when protesters assaulted a woman after she argued with them. Drowned in a sea of umbrellas, the woman is dragged by her hair, beaten, and sprayed on her face with black paint. Hundreds of protestors could also be seen gathering on and around Nathan Road, building blockades, damaging the MTR and other buildings. Scuffles broke out between protestors and police in Hong Kong district of Mong Kok. Police made several arrests. Hong Kong has been rocked since March by demonstrations sparked by a planned, but now-withdrawn extradition bill. The rallies have evolved into a movement with wider grievances against the Hong Kong administration.
