  Comedian Sarah Silverman has asked Americans to “join the resistance” to oust the “mad King” Donald Trump. She’s joined a host of celebrities who have expressed their wish for Mr Trump to cease being president. Ms Silverman, who backed Bernie Sanders then Hillary Clinton in the presidential race, posted her thoughts on Twitter.

  She wrote: “WAKE UP & JOIN THE RESISTANCE. ONCE THE MILITARY IS W US FASCISTS GET OVERTHROWN. MAD KING & HIS HANDLERS GO BYE BYE”.

  Seemingly jokingly, she advocated the use of a military coup to oust the president. She sent the tweet during the protests which lead Milo Yiannopoulos’ talk at UC Berkeley to be cancelled. Many replied to her tweet, with some calling her “delusional” and “treasonous”.
