- US Government Controlled by Israel Lobby: Analyst
Press TV has interviewed Mike Harris, a political analyst, about the US’s imposition of new sanctions against Iran over its missile program.
What follows is a rough transcription of the interview.
Press TV: The imposition of new sanctions against Iran, doesn’t it go decidedly against the spirit of the JCPOA?
Harris: Yes, absolutely. It is the most duplicitous and two-faced move that the US foreign policy has made in a long time. It is an extreme disappointment. It’s very obvious that Iran’s missile program is purely for defensive purposes. They don’t wish to be attacked. It’s easy to see.
But you have to realize a couple of things. The Israel lobby failed to stop the sanctions from being lifted for the nuclear program with Iran. They failed. You have to realize that the Israel lobby, particularly the AIPAC, is a foreign intelligence operation operating in the United States, in Washington DC, which tries to manipulate US foreign policy. And that is what we’re seeing here. We’re seeing them come back; they got spanked whenever the sanctions were lifted against Iran for their nuclear program. Now they want to come back and get whatever they can get; they’re mean, they’re vengeful. And this is a foreign intel operation that is subverting US foreign policy.
Press TV: Right but, Mr. Harris, what is the goal here then?
Harris: The goal is – as always – Israel wants a completely helpless and unarmed Iran so that they can… Iran is not a threat to anyone; they haven’t attacked anyone in three or four hundred years. This is all made up trying to create a bogyman. Iran is not state sponsor of terrorism. They never have been, unlike Saudi Arabia, which is a vigorous sponsor of terrorism. And it just shows more interference.
The American people have lost control of their government; and our government is now controlled by a foreign intelligence operation and that is AIPAC, that is the American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee. That’s what’s going on here. And the American people need to realize it and take back control of our government… and we need new politicians, we need regime change in the United States…
Press TV: Till that happens, the US is then proven not be a very reliable partner when it comes to negotiating or signing accords with.
Harris: Well, they’ve proven themselves to be liars and cheats and that’s exactly what they’ve proven themselves. And if I was another foreign power, I wouldn’t do any business with the United States until they can prove themselves to be a trustworthy partner.
And they haven’t proven that to anyone for a very very very long time. I’m truly disappointed with this action by our government.
