Iran has reacted to Saudi Arabia’s decision to cut bilateral ties, amid a row over the execution of a prominent Shia cleric in the kingdom. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman says the severance of diplomatic relations with Tehran, is in line with Riyadh’s policy of fueling tensions. Hossein Jaberi Ansari delivered a blistering criticism of Saudi policies both at home and abroad.

Jaberi Ansari said that Riyadh has backed Takfiri terrorism across the region and supported terrorist groups on Iranian territory. He noted that the Saudi government has been pursuing the policy of destabilizing regional countries. The official called for international pressure to force Saudi rulers to change their behavior.
