Russia’s defense ministry said one of its warships had to fire warning shots at a Turkish vessel to avoid a collision. The ministry added that the Turkish ship failed to respond to earlier warnings and came within nearly five-hundred meters of the Russian warship before changing course. This is the latest incident that might further stoke tensions between Russia and Turkey. The two countries are already engaged in a war of words that began after Ankara shot down a Russian fighter jet over the Syrian territory last month.
