Syria has cast serious doubts on Turkey’s so-called anti-ISIL campaign, blaming Ankara for the bloodshed in the war-ravaged Arab nation. The Syrian Foreign Ministry said Ankara is seeking to depict itself as the victim of terrorism while it is supporting terrorists in Syria. The ministry also accused the Turkish government of conspiring against Damascus by paving the way for foreign militants to join terrorist groups in Syria through Turkish borders. The Syrian Foreign Ministry further held Turkey responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths in Syria and the grave humanitarian situation in the country. The remarks came in two identical letters sent to the UN chief and the UN Security Council’s president.
