Iran: Insane Israeli Hypocrisy and Iraq-Style WMD Lies!
By Mike Cotugno, The Intel Hub
This fear mongering about Iran maybe having the potential to possibly build a nuclear bomb (which they are not currently doing) is a desperate propaganda campaign by war profiteers on the hill to preemptively invade a sovereign state (most likely without a declaration of war), so I think it would be a good idea to pump the breaks and go over some basic facts that the dinosaur media conveniently forgets to divulge.
–
If we first look at who is intensifying the rhetoric and pushing for “crippling” sanctions on a country that has, as of yet, failed to actually do anything wrong, the finger would have to be pointed squarely at the state of Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
–
Israel’s PM and other high ranking Israeli state department officials have been telling the US do more to economically weaken the Iranian regime in hopes to ultimately coerce them into ending their nuclear program entirely. But let us turn the spotlight on Israel for a moment and see what kind of moral high ground they have to stand on. There are currently three countries that have never signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
–
North Korea had signed the NPT in December of 1985 but withdrew in 2003, making them the only state to ever do so.
–
Two of the nations that have never signed the treaty, India and Pakistan, have publicly announced that they possess nuclear arms.
–
Israel, the third state refusing to ratify the NPT, is deliberately opaque about their WMD holdings and refuses to say whether they do or do not have nuclear weapons, despite the fact that it is widely understood in the international community that they do.
–
In fact, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) stated in 2009, that Israel had a possible nuclear stockpile of “up to 300-400 weapons” with a “lower limit of 70-100,” while Wikipedia’s aggregated estimate puts the number of nuclear weapons owned by Israel between 75 and 400, potentially more than Pakistan and India combined.
–
To review, Iran has none. That’s right, not a single one.
Now that Israel’s hypocritical position is clear, let’s address their concerns on Iran. Israel claims that Iran is planning on using their nuclear sites to enrich uranium to develop a nuclear bomb, which they would in turn use to attack Israel, prompting Israel to push for a Minority Report style pre-crime offensive against Iran.
–
But how does Israel know that Iran is planning to ‘wipe them from the pages of history?’ They don’t. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the authority on international nuclear standards and a subsidiary of the UN which reports directly to the General Assembly and Security Council, Iran definitively does not have a nuclear weapon nor are they attempting to build one.
–
The IAEA has visited Iran numerous times over the past decade and have yet to find any proof of Israel and the West’s claims against Iran, even on their most recent visit in January. Ironically, Israel refuses to let the IAEA come and inspect their nuclear facilities for reasons that may seem obvious.
–
But let’s say that the IAEA, U.S. intelligence agencies and U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta are all dead wrong and Iran has a bunker two miles underground full of nuclear bombs. What could they actually do with them? What would happen to Iran if they decided to bomb Israel? The answer is that they would be completely decimated by the U.S. and other western powers that would likely defend Israel in such a situation in a matter of minutes.
–
If self-preservation is an instinct the Iranians possess, they would know better than to use the nuclear arms that they don’t have on a country they have never explicitly threatened.
–
The point I’m trying to make here is that we need to have a rational, well thought out discussion about the merits of sending our troops and spending more money on yet another war that will probably have no definitive goal and no clear cut end.
–
There are many more talking points the mainstream media likes to spew that many of the unwashed masses like to regurgitate, but poking holes in the logic of the people most vehemently pushing for yet another military operation in the Middle East should at least prompt skeptics to think twice.
–
Remember in 2003 when the talking heads on the major news networks were shrieking that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, stirring up enough public sentiment to pursue another unconstitutional war when a year later it was revealed that there were actually no such weapons in Iraq and it was all just a ‘mistake’ made by the intelligence community? Oops. We have to be wary of these armchair generals who have intentions and motives that are likely not in line with the common man.
–
Beyond just the spats between Israel and Iran, the real danger is that the Chinese (see below) and Russians have both made it clear to the West than an attack on Iran would be treated as a direct threat to their national security – something which they would likely respond to militarily.
–
This feeble attempt by the elites to buoy the petro-dollar for another election cycle or two could potentially be the catalyst to WWIII. Let’s just hope the people of the world do not let it come to that.
