EU Rejects Kiev’s Call for Action Against Moscow
- PressTV Published on Nov 30, 2018
European leaders have played down Ukraine’s call for more pressure on Russia following the recent escalation of tension between Kiev and Moscow. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko asked NATO members on Wednesday to send naval vessels to the Sea of Azov to support his country. The German chancellor, however, turned down the request and called on Ukraine to be sensible. Angela Merkel said the dispute should be resolved through dialog rather than military action. Kiev also asked Western governments to impose more sanctions on Moscow but the European Union did not agree to that either. On Sunday, Russia seized three Ukrainian ships along with their crew off the sea of Crimea for what it called illegal entry.
