Iran: US Sanctions Violate UNSC Resolution

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations says the US is not only violating a Security Council resolution, but it’s also punishing countries which are abiding by it. Gholamali Khoshroo was referring to UN Security Council resolution 22-31; which was unanimously adopted by the council to approve the Iran nuclear deal. Iran and the other signatories to the accord say the US withdrawal from the agreement and its sanctions against Iran, which were lifted under the accord, are a serious breach of the Washington’s obligations under the UN charter. The US has also threatened that any country doing business with Tehran will be penalized.
