According to media reports, the White House is about to announce its much anticipated “Middle East Peace Deal” between Israel and Palestine. The Trump team have been touting it as the “Deal of Century”. While it may be just that for the Trump Administration, its wealthy Israeli backers and the Netanyahu regime in Tel Aviv, in reality the Trump-Kushner ‘peace plan’ will likely be rejected outright by the Palestinians as it side-steps international law and dozens of UN resolutions, as well as denies the native Palestinians the right of return and control over their own territory, resources and freedom of movement.

With the power of the US firmly behind it, Israel’s illegal settler land grabs are now moving at break-neck speed. Middle East Eye’s Jonathan Cook documents the level of neocolonial chutzpah:

“Netanyahu has simply got on with deepening his hold on the West Bank and East Jerusalem – and he knows the Americans aren’t going to stand in his way,” said Michel Warschawski, an Israeli analyst and head of the Alternative Information Centre in Jerusalem.

“He will be given free rein to do what he likes, whether they publish the plan or, in the end, it never sees the light of day,” he told Middle East Eye.

Eran Etzion, a former Israeli foreign ministry official, agreed: “Israel has a much freer hand than it did in the past. It feels confident enough to continue its existing policies, knowing Trump won’t stand in the way.”

The truth is that this supposed “Deal of the Century” is no deal at all. Rather, it is carefully designed as wholesale rip-off of the native Arab population and an unabashed historic fraud carried out in plain sight by a compliant US political class and the Israeli syndicate which now controls it. More importantly however, Americans along with concerned citizens worldwide, should really ask themselves: besides being married to the President’s daughter, what exactly qualifies Jared Kushner to be setting US foreign policy (or even naming a US post office for that matter)?
