French President Emmanuel Macron has warned his U-S counterpart Donald Trump against pulling out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Macron told German media that such a move can work for Trump’s domestic purposes in the short term. But the French president warned that it would be very insane in the medium to long term. Macron said leaving the agreement could open a Pandora’s Box, leading the US and its European allies into armed conflict with Iran. Trump has set a May 12 deadline for European signatories to the deal to fix it. He has threatened to withdraw if the changes he seeks are not implemented. On Thursday, Iran’s foreign minister said any renegotiation of the agreement is out of the question, warning that the US must accept the consequences if it withdraws from the deal.
