Russia Urges Israel to Avoid Any Escalation

  The United States has expressed deep concern over the recent escalation of violence between Damascus and Tel Aviv. The U-S State Department said it strongly supports Israel’s right to defend itself. Meanwhile Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Tel Aviv would do whatever necessary to defend itself against aggression. He also had a telephone conversation with the Russian president to discuss the recent developments. Vladimir Putin urged Netanyahu to avoid any steps that would lead to a new confrontation in the region. Syria downed an F-16 Israeli jet on Saturday which was carrying out a raid on military positions inside Syria. Tel Aviv claims that in conducted the attack after a drone entered the occupied Golan Heights from Syria but Damascus dismissed the claim as a lie.
