China has once again expressed its opposition to deployment of the US advanced missile system known as THAAD. China’s Foreign Ministry reiterated Beijing’s opposition, urging all parties to work together to maintain peace and stability in the region. China says the system’s powerful radar can target its territory. The deployment of the missile system has drawn criticism from people of both Koreas and their neighbors. The US argues the system is needed to counter what it calls threats from North Korea. Critics, however, believe the system will only increase tensions and the risk of war in the region.
