The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that the deployment could have irreparable consequences. It said the missile system tends to undermine stability in the region. China has also lodged protests with the ambassadors of the U-S and South Korea over the deployment. Beijing said the deployment would threaten security, stability, and peace on the Korean Peninsula. This comes as Washington and Seoul say the deployment is a deterrent against North Korea’s nuclear arms. However, Pyongyang accuses the U-S of plotting with regional allies to topple its government. The North says it will not relinquish its nuclear deterrence unless Washington ends its hostile policy toward Pyongyang and dissolves the US-led UN command in South Korea.
