Leaked documents show thousands of Daesh terrorists and their relatives have regularly been crossing over Turkey’s border into Syria under the eyes of security forces. Tapped phone calls between a high-ranking Daesh operative and his affiliate expose the lack of control along Turkey’s border with Syria. Recordings show only from September 22 to October 17, some 1400 members of Daesh crossed into Syria. The documents also reveal terrorists’ contacts in Turkey often help release those detained by border police. They also prove that Daesh is smuggling its members into Turkey for medical treatment. Transcripts of the phone calls were passed to the media by opposition lawmaker Eren Erdem. He accuses the government of a massive cover-up of Daesh activities on Turkish soil.
