China has slammed the presence of US warships in the South China Sea, saying it could increase the risk of a war. China’s naval commander, Admiral Wu Shengli, made the comments on Thursday during a video tele-conference with his US counterpart John Richardson. He said breaching China’s territorial waters is a dangerous and provocative act. Earlier, a Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman said the country’s military is ready to take any necessary measures in response to any future incursions by US vessels around islands in the South China Sea. The warning followed the sailing of a US guided missile-destroyer within the 22-kilometer territorial limit of one of the islands newly created by China.
