Russia and Putin Take Control in Syria–UPDATE
Let me get this straight–Russia is acting in accordance with international law, the United States is violating international law and we are upset by the Russians going after unlawful combatants trying to destroy a government recognized by the UN? What am I missing here?

Under international law, Russia holds all of the cards in Syria. It has been invited into Syria by the Government of Bashir Assad. The Syrians want the Russians on the ground and in the fight. The United States, by contrast, is the law breaker. We are committing an act of war against the Government of Syria by conducting unauthorized air strikes and inserting U.S. Special Operations forces on the ground.

The U.S. media is in a crazed frenzy as I write this. WE ARE IN A CRISIS!! So they say. CNN just hit the Breaking News panic button (they dumped paid advertising) to cut to John McCain speaking on the floor of the Senate. McCain, a good man scarred by the torture he endured in Vietnam, is now a warmonger agitating for conflict with the Syrian Government, Iran, Hezbollah and Russia. Why is he such an advocate for the interests of Saudi Arabia and Turkey. But he’s a sideshow. The main event is that the Russians are flexing their military muscles and are doing it in accordance with international law.

Assad did not create ISIS/ISIL. We did. We absolutely did. ISIS/ISIL was born in our assault in 2004 on Fallujah. We killed and wounded so many Sunni civilians in our blind rage to punish those who murdered four U.S. military contractors that we inadvertently sowed the seeds for the spread of the influence of radical Sunnis throughout Al Anbar province.
–
I am hoping that Russia, Syria and Iran are closely coordinating their tactical plans under the rubric of a broader strategy for defeating ISIS/ISIL and the other rebel groups.
–
I really get a kick out of the news report that a Russian diplomat in Baghdad dropped off a demarche to his American military diplomatic counterpart at the U.S. Embassy, which reportedly asked politely that we get the hell out of Syria and steer clear of Russian military operations.
–
This has now reached the point of total absurdity. For example, McCain and others are saying that ISIS does not have an air force and therefore there is no need for Russian air power in Syria. Really? Then what the fuck are we doing there with our planes? It was not Russia that invaded Iraq and destroyed the political equilibrium that existed with Saddam Hussein in power. We did that and, to this day, continue to pretend that are hands are clean and that everything we did was to promote freedom and democracy. America needs to pull her head from her corpulent ass. We need to stop deluding ourselves.
