Putin: Decision to Send S-300 to Iran Taken After Saudi Arabia Invaded Yemen!

  Russian President Vladimir Putin says the delivery of S-300 surface-to-air missile systems to Iran serves Tehran’s defensive purposes. According to the Russian leader, the decision to lift the ban was taken after Saudi Arabia invaded Yemen. Putin added that Israel should have no concerns about the delivery, because the system is entirely defensive. Putin also rejected other criticisms, saying the delivery of S-300 does not violate the sanctions regime against Iran because it was not essentially on the UN’s anti-Iran sanctions list. Putin further expressed hope that Moscow’s decision would encourage the Iranian partners to continue their constructive dialog with the P5+1 group of countries.
