The lira hit 2-point-41 during intra-day trading to the dollar before making a slight rebound to 2-point-37. It had plunged to the all-time low of two-point-39 on Monday. Analysts say the devaluation of the lira is the result of worries over domestic politics, including the arrest this week of journalists. They also blame a general concern for emerging markets including Russia for falling lira rates. The lira is facing its worst slide since January, when the central bank intervened by raising interest rates.
