The UN Secretary General’s special envoy for Ebola says the virulent disease is flaming strongly in parts of West Africa.

David Nabarro made the remarks during a news briefing in Geneva. He emphasized the urgent need for more foreign experts to help tackle the deadly epidemic. The World Health Organization figures say the Ebola death toll in West Africa’s three hardest-hit countries has topped 6,330. Sierra Leone faces the most serious outbreak of the disease with up to 100 new cases being reported every day. According to Nabarro, Liberia and Guinea have managed to relatively contain the spread. The number of new cases in Liberia is now down to 10 per day, from 60 per day in September.
