  Measures the Israeli regime takes, such as construction of illegal settlements in the Palestinian occupied territories, indicate nothing but a “slow genocide” of the Palestinian people, says a former American intelligence linguist in Florida.

  Scott Rickard told Press TV on Tuesday that such measures by Tel Aviv are “utterly disgusting.” Rickard made the comments in reaction to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s unveiling of yet another massive settlement expansion in occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

  “Netanyahu’s comments and Israel’s actions in the occupied territories… are utterly disgusting. This is clearly a violation of international law,” said the American analyst.

  While Tel Aviv’s atrocities have been going on for more than six decades, the US keeps silent because of “a State Department that has been hijacked by the Zionist pro-Israel lobby,” Rickard said.

  “This is going on for 60 plus years and this conquering is really nothing more than a slow genocide of an indigenous people,” he said, noting, “There has never been a peace process in place.” He stated that the United States’ pro-Israel lobby “is leading the American people into violations of international law.”

  On Monday, Netanyahu approved construction of more than 1,000 settlements in East al-Quds. The presence and continued expansion of Israeli settlements in occupied Palestine has created a major obstacle for the efforts to establish peace in the Middle East.

  More than half a million Israelis live in over 120 illegal settlements built since Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds. The UN and most countries regard the Israeli settlements as illegal because the territories were captured by Israel in the 1967 war and are hence subject to the Geneva Conventions, which forbids construction on occupied lands.
