  The leftist Swedish blog “8 Days” ran excerpts on Friday from the blog of the Deputy Chairman of Ukraine’s ruling Party of Regions, MP Oleh Tsaryov. In late January, Tsaryov had charged that members of the Russian State Duma “with ties to Syrian intelligence” had told him that 350 Ukrainians fighting against the Syrian government had returned to Ukraine to join the Hrushevsky Street riots.

  On Friday, he described the principle behind the colored revolutions as “engineered chaos.” “Ukraine has become the hostage of a global geopolitical game. The U.S.A. wants, according to its theory of engineered chaos, to create chaos and stress at the Russian border.” Then he points to interests like the EU, the oligarchs, and the neighboring countries as looking for benefits from a disintegration of the Ukrainians.  “Still there are Ukrainians who think Maidan is defending their interests. Naive Ukrainians!”

  He writes that the parliamentary opposition have much less support on the Maidan than they have in the general population. Maidan is more and more governed by extremists. The opposition therefore has the biggest interest in liquidating Maidan, “but why are they not even trying to do that?” Tsaryov asks. “Another thing is obvious: After a while, the people will evaluate politicians, journalists, and other active citizens on the basis of what they all have done to keep the country away from civil war. What did you do to avoid bloodletting?”

  On relations to Russia, Tsaryov writes that the Russian credit of $15 billion is not all the Russian aid. Common economic programs will provide at least another $25 billion in investments. But a normal Ukrainian has lost up to 10% of his salary, because the dollar has become more expensive during the “Euromaidan.” “Compared to that, the damage to the street pavement in Kiev is minuscule,” Tsaryov writes.

  In another entry, on Feb. 5, Tsaryov pointed to the control over the Maidan demonstrators from the U.S. Ambassador in Ukraine, and the fact that already, NATO troops are being flown into Ukraine to participate in a planned joint military exercise with both NATO and Ukraine in March.  (This date may be due to mistranslation; the exercise is scheduled for July.)  The exercise, called “Rapid Trident 2014,” is under preparation in Lviv in Western Ukraine. 1,000 NATO troops will soon be in the Ukraine.

  Also mentioned are troops allegedly based on the U.S. Navy ships in the Black Sea, where Tsaryov says there are 600 Navy Seals. This contradicts EIR‘s information about the ships in question, which indicates that they can host at most three helicopters between the two ships.

  Tsaryov’s blog also cites the Finnish Russian Studies expert, Johan Beckman, who is in Kiev. Beckman is cited saying (quite correctly) that after studying the situation in Kiev, it has all the criteria for a “fascist occupation,” “which is probably financed by the U.S.”
