Putin: Trump Impeachment Charges Made Up, US Senate Republican Majority’ll Not Impeach Him
- Russia Insight
Russian President Vladimir Putin holds his annual news conference, attended by Russian and foreign media, at the World Trade Centre in Moscow. Vladimir Putin has criticized the impeachment of Donald Trump, dismissing the charges as “absolutely made up” and saying he expected the US president to survive the US Senate vote. In remarks reminiscent of Trump himself, Putin said during an annual press conference that US Democrats were seeking to make up for their loss in the 2016 presidential elections “by other means”, ascribing the impeachment proceedings to country’s domestic political campaigning. The Kremlin said that this year a record 1,895 journalists have been accredited to cover the event. The press conference is set to be Putin’s 15th as the Russian leader.
