Lebanon to US: Stop Israeli Violations

  The Lebanese president has asked the visiting US Secretary of State to try and end Israel’s violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty. Michel Aoun told Rex Tillerson that Beirut will not accept Israel’s claim to parts of the Lebanese waters where the country plans to drill for oil and gas. The top US diplomat also held talks with Lebanon’s Prime Minister Saad Hariri. The visit coincides with heightened tensions between Lebanon and Israel over oil and gas reserves off the Lebanese coast and Israel’s construction of a border wall that Beirut says encroaches on its territory.
