    The ultra-nationalist Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu on Wednesday retweeted a social media post promoting the sale of items calling for the occupation of the Sinai Peninsula, more than four decades after Israel returned the territory to Egypt as part of the historic peace treaty between the two countries in 1979.

    The tweet, written by user Ayelet Lash, invited the general public to buy a T-shirt printed with what purported to be a map of Israel – including the West Bank, Gaza and Sinai – and the slogan “Occupation Now.” The post also contained a link to a website selling “Occupation Now” merchandise and advocating the extension of Israeli sovereignty to the Sinai, southern Lebanon and, eventually, Jordan.
