Extremely hostile announcement for Israel – Jordan and Egypt talk about “red lines”
The Egypt-Jordan summit on the “Israeli attack on Gaza” has ended, as the two countries characteristically reported. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II, in a joint statement, call on Israel to immediately stop all military action.
–
The announcement is highly hostile to Israel as it speaks of the siege, displacement and collective punishment of Gaza. The announcement seems to have the form of an ultimatum. Perhaps the two countries have been informed of the involvement of Hezbollah and, by extension, Iran.
–
The two countries are warning Israel that the threat of a generalized conflict, a major regional war, is imminent and if this happens, it will plunge the region into a major disaster.
–
The joint announcement not only shows that Egypt and Jordan have a common position but also that Israel is losing two key allied countries. Especially Jordan.
