Three buildings of the “Palestine Tower” in Gaza City’s al-Rinal neighborhood were destroyed by Israeli airstrikes today, reported AFP journalists who saw the three ten-story-plus towers collapse one after the other after explosions.

The Israeli military said it hit “two high-rise buildings” with airstrikes, accusing the “terrorist organization Hamas”, which is in power in Gaza, of protecting its military infrastructure “in the heart of the population” of the Palestinian enclave.

The army stressed that it warned residents before the strikes and “asked them to evacuate the area”. Health officials in Gaza announced that 198 Palestinians were killed by airstrikes launched by Israel in retaliation for Hamas attacks on its territory.

Israel launched Operation Iron Swords to counter Hamas ground and air attacks from Gaza. Israeli F-16s and F-35s are bombing positions of the armed organization in the Gaza Strip, while the army will also launch ground operations along the border of the two sides.
