- CGTN
In the past year, the semiconductor and chip industry has become the most competitive field between countries. The pandemic and the repetitive U.S. export ban have dealt a heavy blow to the industry, and the world is facing a severe chip shortage problem, which has caused many companies from automakers to cellphone manufacturers to delay deliveries of their products, since chips are the lifeline to most of the products that we deem indispensable in our daily life. In an exclusive interview with CGTN Digital, Ian Yang, Corporate Vice President and President of Intel China, discusses how the pandemic, competitions between U.S. and China, and the global chip shortage influenced Intel, and how the tech giant tackled the challenge. Yang also shared the company’s deployment in the digital economy transformation, which is a key subject in China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, as well as his insights on China’s plan to achieve independent technological breakthroughs in the semiconductor and chip sector.
