- PressTV Published on Oct 5, 2018
The European Union Commission warns of a new war in the Balkans if the region’s western states DON’T feel the EU is serious about offering them future membership. Jean-Claude Juncker issued the warning in a speech to the Austrian parliament. The EU Commission chief said the western Balkan states need more progress before joining the bloc. Juncker added, these countries won’t join the EU before 20-25. He urged them to resolve all border conflicts before gaining the union’s membership. The six Balkan states namely Bosnia, Albania, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Kosovo are currently at different stages of accession talks with the EU.
