Israel Urges Russia Not to Deliver S-300 to Syria
- PressTV Published on Sep 25, 2018
The Israeli prime minister has urged Russia to reverse its decision on transferring an advanced air defense system to Syria. Benjamin Netanyahu made the request in a phone conversation with the Russian president. The Israeli premier reportedly told Vladimir Putin that Russia’s move will increase the danger in the region. He also accused Syria and Iran of shooting down the Russian plane last week. Vladimir Putin, however, disagreed with the Israeli version of events concerning the incident. Putin underlined that the actions by the Israeli air force were the main reason for the tragedy. Last Monday, Syrian anti-aircraft missiles shot down a Russian jet while trying to thwart an Israeli airstrike on the port city of Latakia. All fifteen Russian members aboard the plane were killed.
