Iran Calls on UN to Condemn Israel Over Atomic Threat Against Islamic Republic

  Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations calls on the international community to adopt a strong stance against Israel’s atomic threat. In a letter to the UN, the Iranian mission said Israel’s nuclear arsenal is the biggest threat to global peace and security. The letter urged the UN to compel Israel to join the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and put its nuclear program under the IAEA’s supervision. It also demanded that the U-N condemn Israel for threatening Iran with atomic annihilation. Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to destroy Iran as he visited the Dimona nuclear arms facility. Israel is believed to be the only possessor of nuclear weapons in the Middle East. Tel Aviv is believed to have hundreds of nuclear warheads.
