German Leader Warns US Against “Trade War”

  German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has warned the United States against an all-out trade war with the European Union. Merkel was speaking at the German parliament three days after U-S President, Donald Trump, made new trade threats. Trump said he was considering import taxes of 20-percent on E-U cars. The two sides were already at odds over Trump’s increased tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from the E-U. The move prompted the E-U to slap tariffs on iconic U-S products, including jeans. Trump’s new tariffs on European products are part of his protectionist policy that have also targeted China.
