Protests against US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital have turned violent in Lebanon. Clashes erupted as demonstrators rallied outside the US Embassy in Beirut to show their anger at Trump’s move. Water cannon and tear gas were used to disperse the protesters. Iraqis also protested against the measure in the holy city of Najaf. Protesters from all walks of life attended the rally to express solidarity with the Palestinian people. They stressed that al-Quds must be the capital of Palestine. Earlier, demonstrators in the US city of San Francisco took to the streets to denounce Trump’s decision.
