The US has sent supersonic bombers and stealth fighter jets to South Korea in a huge show of force against North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un. President Donald Trump flew the highly advanced warplanes to the country to take part in bombing exercises above the Korean peninsula, the South said today.
The drills, involving two supersonic American B-1B bombers, four stealth F-35B jets and South Korean fighter jets, were aimed at intimidating the North. Just two days ago, Pyongyang launched a ballistic missile, called the Hwasong-12, over northern Japan, leading to a sharp rise in tensions. The live-fire drills took place at the end of annual joint U.S.-South Korea military exercises focussed mainly on computer simulations.
