Tensions between Washington and Moscow have intensified with the US vice president describing Russia’s activities in Eastern Europe as destabilizing. Mike Pence once again underlined Washington’s commitment to NATO, with which Russia has long been at odds over a series of issues including the western alliances’ eastward expansion. He also raised the possibility of stationing an advanced missile system in Estonia, which is one of the three Baltic States that border Russia. The U-S vice president made the remarks in Estonia during his first stop of a four-day European tour. This, as the Kremlin has repeatedly criticized troop deployments by NATO and the U-S in Eastern Europe, saying it’s meant to encircle Russia.
