VLADIMIR Putin has declared war against the Russian ambassador’s murderers, as he believes the killing was a ‘provocation’ aimed at sabotaging the newly-established relationship between Moscow and Ankara.
The Russian President said he wanted to know exactly who ordered Andrei Karlov’s killing because the peace process in Syria is also being “disrupted”.
The head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshikin, the Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, and the head of the domestic security service, Alexander Bortnikov held a special meeting with Putin on Monday night to discuss the tragic murder of the 62-year-old ambassador.
Before asking the leaders to “strengthen security at Russian diplomatic facilities”, Putin said: “The crime that was committed is without doubt a provocation aimed at disrupting the normalisation of Russian-Turkish relations and disrupting the peace process in Syria that is being actively advanced by Russia, Turkey and Iran.
