Another Palestinian man has been shot dead by Israeli forces in the occupied territories. The victim was gunned down near a military checkpoint, south of Nablus. The Israeli army claims that its forces opened fire as the man was trying to stab them with a knife. Thursday’s killing brings to 266 the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli troops since the upsurge in violence began in October 2015. In another development, at least 16 Palestinians were arrested overnight by Israeli forces across the West Bank. They were taken away from the cities of Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarm, al-Khalil, and Qalandiyah refugee camp.
