The Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution says the massacre of the Yemeni people at the hands of the Saudi regime is the worst form of terrorism. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the comment during a meeting with visiting Finnish President Sauli Niinisto in Tehran. The leader slammed the stance adopted by the outgoing UN chief on the Saudi aggression against Yemen. He said Ban Ki-moon’s refusal to condemn the Saudi killing of Yemeni children— due to the world body’s dependence on Rhiyadh’s money— is an indication of the catastrophic moral situation of international politicians. Ayatollah Khamenei described terrorism as one of the painful tragedies of humanity, and said fighting terrorism requires a strong resolution on the part of world powers. The leader stressed that the US and some other countries are not serious in fighting terrorism. He added that such countries assess all issues on the basis of their own interests and do not care about eradicating the scourge of terrorism whether in Iraq, or in Syria. For his part, the Finnish president pointed out the UN’s failure in fighting terrorism which has led to the killing of civilians, including women and children, in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
