The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that neither Russian jets nor Syrian warplanes were involved in the bombardment that took place on Monday. According to the Russian ministry, only foreign-backed militants had information about the whereabouts or the coordinates of the convoy. The Syrian military has also stated that there is no shred of truth in media reports about the army’s assault on the convoy. On Tuesday, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the International Red Crescent Society announced that they are suspending their relief work in Syria over the raid.
