Leaked emails of former US secretary of state Colin Powell shed light on Israel’s military nuclear program and its prime target, Iran. Powell made the revelation in an email he sent to his business partner, which was obtained by the hacking group DC Leaks and published on the internet. He admitted that Tel Aviv had 200 nuclear weapons aimed at Iran. He also rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks about Iran’s nuclear program in his 20-12 UN speech. He said Netanyahu’s claim that Tehran was only a year away from making a nuclear bomb was exaggerated. Israel has maintained a policy of ambiguity over its military nuclear program but some experts estimate it has as many as 400 nuclear weapons. In a separate email, Powell also acknowledged Iran’s right to enrich uranium and approved of the nuclear deal with Iran.
