Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Ukraine of provoking violence in the Crimea region which rejoined Russia two years ago. Putin also said Kiev is taking “stupid and criminal” actions in Crimea, adding there is no point in holding planned talks on the peace process in Ukraine’s east. His comments come after Russian security forces said they have thwarted a series of armed Ukrainian raids on Crimea. Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has rejected Putin’s accusations, saying they are a cynical pretext used by Russia to make more military threats against Ukraine.
