Chinese Army to Close Off South China Sea for Drills

  Officials say an area to the southeast of the Hainan Island will be closed until Thursday for army exercises. No further details have been released about the nature of the maneuvers. The announcement comes days after the Hague-based Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled that China’s claims over most of the South China Sea have no legal basis. Beijing rejected the arbitration case and called it unlawful.
