According to the military, the six-day drills will launch on July the fifth. China has warned other ships not to enter the waters off the east of Hainan and Paracel islands during the drills. The wargames come ahead of a ruling by an international arbitration court, hearing a dispute between China and the Philippines over the South China Sea. Beijing, however, says it will reject any ruling by the UN-backed Permanent Court of Arbitration over the Sea. Manila lodged a suit against Beijing in early 2013. Several Southeast Asian states have overlapping claims in the sea.
