  Several Years Later Came the Scary Diagnosis
  In 2010, Dennis Hill was diagnosed with aggressive Stage III Adenocarcinoma (cancer) of the Prostate gland. This was several years later from his MD Anderson days in Houston, and he was living in a small California town. As a private person in his senior years away from where he had lived, he knew he would not have a supporting entourage of close friends and family now.

  And the urologist who had diagnosed him was pushing Dennis toward radiation therapy and chemo. Dennis knew that wasn’t for him and passed on the recommendation.

  But he wondered what option would be available for him on a do it alone basis to avoid conventional treatments. Then a lady friend told him cannabis cured cancer. She said her nephew cured his that way and there were other anecdotal successes as well. She recommended he research that possibility.

  At first he didn’t believe it. He didn’t think cannabis pleasures would extend to healing cancer. So he researched the internet and discovered some testimonials as well as various studies from around the world on the effects of cannabis on cancer cells in vitro (lab petri dish) and in vivo (live animals). He could decipher the scientific babble because he is a biochemist.

  He was very impressed with what he had discovered and became convinced cannabis was his option after all. At first he didn’t know how or where to get the cannabis he needed after getting his California medical marijuana card. His small town residence was limited.

  But another friend told him she’d make cannabutter (cannbis infused butter) from an area grower’s “trim”, everything left over after using the buds. Dennis used that for three months even though it’s not as potent as extracts from the buds. He simply dosed cannabis twice daily to his level of tolerance.

  He noted that his tolerance level did increase as time went on, allowing for higher levels of cannabinoids to fight his cancer without too much “high” interfering with his work and daily routines.

  Dennis checked his progress after three months with another biopsy, which determined that the main tumor had disappeared but some metastatic lesions remained. Then he found a cannabis co-op where no cash was exchanged but everyone chipped in toward growing and processing the cannabis into what they called hash oil, an oil extract from the whole plant including buds and all.

  That’s what he used for another six months. As a former college scholarship track and field athlete he was accustomed to running two miles daily while working two jobs. The whole six months of using cannabis daily to tolerance did not interfere with his daily routines. Unlike conventionally treated cancer patients, he “had fun” the whole time.

  No More Cancer
  After the six month period, a final biopsy and PSA check confirmed he was completely cancer free. He has now easily passed the five years cancer free from diagnosis that conventional oncology claims as the test of time for a valid cure, and he has turned his biochemistry background toward researching the molecular events of cannabis.

  Dennis has written two published papers that explain how cannabis compounds work with receptors in the body for natural healing: The Human Endocannabinoid System Meats the Inflammatory Cytokine Cascade and Cancer Specific Cytotoxicity of Cannabinoids.

  Both are interesting, but the cancer specific cytotoxicity paper explains how cannabis compounds of THC (the one that creates the high) and CBD (cannabidiol) work together to destroy cancer cells while nourishing healthy cells.
