NATO to Deploy Multinational Battalions in Baltic States

  NATO is planning to boost its presence in Romania in addition to deploying battalions in the three Baltic States and Poland. NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said units will also be sent to Romania in response to Russia’s intervention in Ukraine. He made no mention of the number of troops to be deployed there. The NATO ministers will also be approving the deployment of four multinational battalions in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland. Stoltenberg also said NATO does not want a new cold war with Russia.
