A senior Iranian official says Israel’s arsenal of nuclear and chemical weapons poses the greatest threat to peace and security in the Middle East. Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remark during a meeting with the head of a UN-appointed team tasked with investigating use of chemical weapons in Syria. The official said Iran, as the biggest victim of chemical attacks, has banned the use of all kinds of WMDs based on religious and Islamic teachings. Amir-Abdollahian slammed the world’s inaction towards terrorist groups’ irresponsible use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people. Meanwhile, Virginia Gamba hailed Iran’s constructive role in the political resolution of the Syrian conflict and also in fighting terrorism.
