  The United States has unveiled plans for a military surge in Eastern Europe amid tensions with Russia. The Pentagon says three fully manned combat brigades will be deployed on a continuous basis from next year. The US military says the plan demonstrates a strong approach to reassuring US allies in the face of an aggressive Russia. Relations between Russia and the West have soured in recent years over the conflict in Ukraine and the war in Syria.
